I am honored and pleased to endorse SUSAN HOFFMANN as Mayor of Rockville.
I have known Susan since 1987 when she came to Annapolis to appear before the Maryland General Assembly, House Ways & Means Committee, which I chair, to present proposals on behalf of Montgomery County. It was very apparent then that Susan was deeply interested in the welfare of the citizens of Maryland and Rockville in particular.
Susan served on the Rockville City Council for three terms and for five years before that on the Rockville Planning Commission. She is known for her work on behalf of the arts and created the Art in Private Development fund which collects funding for public art or contributions to an arts organization.
In particular, Susan is known for her accomplishments on behalf of Rockville 's environment making this city stronger and healthier. She has worked to revitalize the Town Center; to establish the Rockville Green Building Award which honors outstanding environmental practices. She has also worked to make it possible for the City to purchase three hybrid diesel buses for use as Shuttles to connect our neighborhoods to the Town Center and the Metro Stations.
These are Susan's major interests and she will continue to pursue these interests most especially to make Rockville Clean and Green. She has a new Environmental Initiative that will enable Rockville to adopt alternate sources of energy; reduce carbon emissions, and lead the way as a role model city. Our future depends on persons such as SUSAN HOFFMANN. VOTE FOR HOFFMANN AS MAYOR November 6.
